Dissonance and harmony: a virtual choir of 2000 voices singing ‘Sleep’

This is simply beautiful. It’s a virtual choir of over 2000 people from around the world who each separately recorded themselves singing a part of Eric Whitaker’s composition, ‘Sleep’, and uploaded it to Youtube. The videos were then edited together to form this delicious metaphor for international harmony.

“We are a species with a remarkable degree of variation and difference… We either cherish and seek to understand our differences, or we do not understand what it is to be human at all.” –Michael Ondaatje

If you want to know about the background to this creation, here’s Eric Whitaker’s TED talk describing his original inspiration and the process.
